\ magazine & poster insert \ fall 2013 \
This was a magazine redesign in which we chose a poorly designed magazine off the shelves and used its content to design and create a new visual vocabulary, brand, issue, and poster insert. The content of "Hacker Quarterly" was centered around the digital world, with emphasis on hacking and cracking into software.
For my aesthetic I focused on coding, digital distortion, and pixels. For example, my table of contents was created from the code found on the magazine's website. I extracted the code from their table of contents, and then inserted my own content into it. The second part of the assignment was to create a poster insert only using printmaking. Although I knew bringing digital imagery into a handmade environment would be a difficult task, I was excited to use the bright and vibrant silkscreen inks to echo computer on-screen colors that can't be achieved in print.
