self portrait + silkscreen + spring 2014
Selected as a part of "Fresh: A Converse Group Show." On display as the first installation in the new 1/2 Way Gallery space at Converse's new corporate headquarters in Lovejoy (Boston).
Attacking the notion of a self portrait as a more graphic interpretation of thyself, I built this silkscreen around the concept of the combination of graphic design and printmaking processes in my creative life. I focuses on first the anatomy of the print, breaking it down into layers on vellum, emphasizing the connection between design and printmaking: layering, both physical and digital.
“ME MYSELF + EYE” is a nod to the beginning of a new creative process and a new beginning. Using CMYK as the foundational elements and building outward, it echoes the graphic design process and the conversation between the artist and the eye.
