"Not For Sale"
\ Poster & Installation Site \ fall 2013 \
*selected for AIGA's "New Voices Unique Visions" show in the spring 0f 2014
I created a poster to advertise something that couldn't technically sold–order. At first, I attacked the poster with the idea that I could emphasize the importance of order by showing chaos. After trying that out, I decided that order is really about finding a sense of calm amidst all of the chaos, and moved in a different direction. I began using digitally rendered geometric patterns to create a digital crossweave. I used a balance of positive and negative space to create my own typeface, filling the canvas with organized chaos.
The second part of this piece was to mock-up an installation site for the poster. I decided that the place that I wanted to install needed to be the perfect balance between order and disorder. Those of you familiar with the "T" in Boston (or any public transportation for that matter), know how hectic a scene it can be. I found a spot when taking the escalator underground to the train where there was a moment of calm. Everyone is rushing to get their bus or train, but everything becomes still on the escalator.
