100x100 + fall 2014
This is a set of two books; one completely image-based, and one completely text-based, that was meant to be a thesis research project. The 100x100 books are supposed to represent what I care about as a designer and what I'm drawn to both physically and intellectually.
How do I react when I see something; read something? I immediately formulate an opinion, and often, that opinion is an extreme. I either love it, or hate it, and nothing in between. I think it is in our DNA and our human nature to immediately want to form an opinion on all we are exposed to.
I played up the high contrast of black and white to organize my imagery and text references. For the imagery, I inverted all of the images I disliked, often juxtaposing them with something I liked. For the text, I was doing research on opinionated articles, and a constant theme were manifestos, which I also organized into like and dislike.
